Former Norway international Jan Age Fjortoft thinks Chelsea’s transfer deal for Christopher Nkunku is better than Liverpool’s move for Dominik Szoboszlai.
The German football expert claimed that Dominik Szoboszlai won’t start for Jurgen Klopp, after his transfer from RB Leipzig was announced on Sunday by Liverpool on their website.
As for Christopher Nkunku, his move was known for a while prior to his £52 million transfer (Sky Sports) was confirmed by Chelsea last month, as Fjortoft added that the versatile forward has ‘energy’ to his game, as he told ESPN.
Both players arrive from RB Leipzig, who have seen a number of their star players move to the Premier League over the years, with mixed results.
Timo Werner, albeit he won the European Cup at Stamford Bridge, his time at Stamford Bridge just didn’t work and Chelsea fans will be hoping Nkunku has better luck.
Whilst Ibrahima Konate has faired well at Anfield, but Naby Keita has just left the club on a free transfer after he, just like Werner, just couldn’t perform in England.

“I am not sure Szoboszlai will go straight into the Liverpool team,” said Fjortoft. “Nkunku the same. I like Nkunku. When he came back after the injury, he came back for RB Leipzig. He is all over the place. There is an energy about him.
“I will say, at the moment, that it’s Nkunku (as the better deal). On the basis that if Chelsea can sort out their stuff. If Pochettino can sort out Chelsea, because nobody can come to Chelsea as they were last season and do anything.
“So, if Pochettino can sort them out and do the right stuff for them, then I think he will find him a good position.
“Szoboszlai, it depends on how he (Klopp) will mix the midfield. How will he try to get Alexander-Arnold in there? What will he do to try and cover that space, and so on.”

Will Chelsea and Liverpool return to the Champions League?
At the start of last season, not many would have predicted Liverpool to end up in the Europa League and Chelsea in the bottom half of the table.
Both clubs are built to be in the top four and they are spending to get back with the elite again.
But as Chelsea have proven over the recent transfer windows that spending means jack and it doesn’t guarantee you the success you want.
