Kevin Campbell has said on Highbury Squad that he cannot understand why Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal will not play in the UEFA Europa League this week, but Graham Potter’s Chelsea will feature in the UEFA Champions League.
Chelsea will take on FC Red Bull Salzburg at Stamford Bridge in London in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday evening.
Arsenal were supposed to lock horns with PSV at the Emirates Stadium in North London in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday evening.
But that particular game has been postponed.
As announced on Arsenal’s official website, the decision to postpone the match has been made following ‘liaison between UEFA, the Metropolitan Police and ourselves, after the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’.
Apparently, there would have been policing issues.

Kevin Campbell on Arsenal and Chelsea playing in Europe this week
Former Arsenal star Kevin Campbell cannot understand why Arsenal’s match in London on Thursday has been postponed, but Chelsea’s game, also in London, is going ahead as scheduled on Wednesday evening.
Campbell said on Highbury Squad: “If I am honest with you, it makes no sense. It makes no sense whatsoever.
“Two London clubs, playing at home, in Europe, one’s on and one’s not.
“Maybe the fact of the matter is that the Arsenal game is on the Thursday, but the deployment of all the police will not be on the Thursday. So, to me, I don’t get it.”
It will be interesting to see when the UEFA Europa League fixture between Arsenal and PSV is rearranged.
It is going to be hard to fit that match before the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar in November.
