It has been reported by the Spanish publication that the former Liverpool star will hold talks with Koeman about his future at Barcelona, as he returns to his parent club after a loan spell at Bayern Munich.
The report has added that Koeman could give Coutinho an important role in his project despite the Brazil international – who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger – struggling at Barcelona so far and spending the past season on loan at Bayern.
Earlier this month, Bleacher Report claimed that the 28-year-old could make a move to Arsenal towards the end of the summer transfer window.
Sport reported in August of interest from the Gunners in taking the 28-year-old to the Emirates Stadium (click here to read more).
Fresh start
Coutinho would be a brilliant signing for Arsenal, especially as he knows the Premier League inside out and was a success at Liverpool.
However, with the Gunners having recently signed Willian on a free transfer, the North London outfit are not exactly in need of the ex-Inter Milan man, described as “a magical player” by his former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers in The Daily Record in January 2018.
With Barcelona now having a new head coach in Koeman, perhaps it would be best for Coutinho to start afresh at Camp Nou.
