Arsenal are closing in on signing Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona, according to AS Sport.

The latest update claims that Willian is set to sign for Arsenal in the coming days and Coutinho could well follow him to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal are said to ‘love’ Coutinho, with ‘decisive days’ coming in the negotiations.

While it is still not guaranteed that Arsenal will sign Coutinho, as Barcelona are still open to offers from other clubs, it is thought that the £80 million playmaker (TalkSPORT) could arrive in North London sooner rather than later.

The arrival of Coutinho would be an exciting one for Gunners supporters, as the playmaker would certainly increase the creativity available to Mikel Arteta’s side.

Arteta wants his Arsenal side to show more ability to break down packed defences and Coutinho would certainly help in that regard.

The 28-year-old may not have been in his best form recently, but during his last spell with Liverpool in the Premier League, he was renowned as one of the best players in the division.

If Arsenal can get Coutinho performing to those levels again he could be a stunning signing, and his arrival should significantly increase the chances created for the Gunners’ attackers next term.
