According to numerous reports in recent months, Liverpool are interested in Barcelona’s Gavi.
Last week it was even reported that the Reds have proposed contract terms to the Spanish midfielder, but unfortunately for the Merseyside outfit, there have been suggestions that Gavi isn’t open to a move.
To be fair, we can understand why. He’s getting plenty of gametime at Barcelona, and with Xavi leading La Blaugrana into a new era, Gavi has every reason to be excited.
However, things just became a bit more complicated in the midfield at Camp Nou.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Franck Kessie has agreed to join Barca on a big-money contract, and that means that Barcelona’s midfield is now absolutely stacked.
Sergio Busquets, Frenkie De Jong and Kessie are three established stars, while Pedri and Nico are two of the hottest young prospects coming through right now.
Gavi may be a regular at Camp Nou this season, but with Kessie’s arrival, he has to be wondering what this means for his minutes next season, and with Liverpool interested, his head could be turned.

Not only are Liverpool in a stronger position to challenge for major honours than Barcelona at the moment, but, as we’ve seen with Harvey Elliott this season, they’re more than happy to give young players a starring role.
With the Reds reportedly ready to pay the ‘maestro’ £96,000-a-week, you have to imagine they have big plans for him, and while he’s not shown much interest so far, Kessie’s arrival may have given him a reason to explore what lies beyond Catalonia.
Kessie will be a brilliant signing for Barca, but Gavi may have to question his position in the team after this arrival.
