Liverpool have now turned their attention away from Jude Bellingham as they target quantity over quality – with Luka Sucic a surprise option for the Reds.

What’s the story?

Well – according to The Times – Liverpool have now abandoned their pursuit of Bellingham due to the cost of the deal, which is expected to surpass £120m.

Jürgen Klopp is said to be aware that he needs numbers rather than one marquee signing, so it seems as if Liverpool are going to spread their money across a number of midfield options instead of one name.

Goal believe Mason Mount, Nicolo Barella, Ryan Gravenberch and Teun Koopmeiners are all potential arrivals at Anfield this summer, as well as Sucic.

Now, the latter is nowhere near as well known as the other three names on that list, so let’s explore some details.

Sucic – who has been described as Luka Modric 2.0 – is already a Croatia international at the age of just 20.

The RB Salzburg No.21 is a regular for the Austrian giants, and played 90 minutes in three of their six Champions League games this season as the likes of Chelsea and AC Milan were held to 1-1 draws.

By all account, Sucic is a tremendous prospect who could develop into an elite talent.

Liverpool putting a lot of pressure on Luka Sucic

In our view, if Liverpool opt to sign Sucic as an alternative for Bellingham, it would make the 20-year-old’s life quite difficult at Anfield.

A vast number of Liverpool fans got their hopes up about a deal for the England international, so anybody who arrives as an alternative will surely be compared to the Borussia Dortmund No.22 almost immediately.

For Sucic, a 20-year-old who would be getting his first taste of English football should he move to Merseyside, that may not help his transition period as he attempts to acclimatise.

Someone with a bit more experience like Mount or Barella would be better equipped to handle that pressure, and while we still think a deal for Sucic is worth pursuing, perhaps he should be loaned out first before everybody holds him up against Bellingham.
