Red Bull Salzburg starlet Luka Sucic admits he is flattered by reports linking him with a move to Premier League giants Liverpool, speaking to Sportske Novosti.
With Enzo Fernandez now at Chelsea, and with Jude Bellingham perhaps too expensive these days, Liverpool may need to cast their net a little wider as Jurgen Klopp looks to restructure his midfield.
So keep an eye on Sucic; a £17 million-rated playmaker labelled the ‘new Luka Modric’ by some due to his technical ability and his Croatian passport.

Sucic, Goal add, is seen as an ‘elite prospect’, while Liverpool’s relationship with the Red Bull chiefs could give them a head start in any race for the youngster’s signature. During the Klopp era, Liverpool signed Ibrahima Konate, Sadio Mane, Naby Keita and Takumi Minamino either from Red Bull Salzburg or their sister club Leipzig.
Could ‘new Modric’ Luka Sucic be on his way to Liverpool?
“I read some of those stories,” Sucic says when asked about those Liverpool links. “And that’s all I can tell you about that topic. Of course, I’m glad that I’m mentioned in that context.
“But (my feet are) firmly on the ground. I’m not ‘flying’ because of those stories. When the time comes, we’ll see what happens, weigh up what’s best for my career.
“It is up to me to play the best I can for my the club and the national team. And then, the transfer will come by itself.”
Austria-born Sucic has already picked up four trophies at Red Bull Salzburg. He was also part of the Croatia squad which finished third at the Qatar World Cup. Salzburg tend to cash in on at least one key player every summer and Sucic is fully aware that, sooner rather than later, his time will come.
“I know that this is how things are done here. Every summer there are sales of players, and I assume that the upcoming summer transfer window will be the same or similar,” Sucic adds.
“I really don’t know if my name will be found in that context, nor does it bother me. Let it be as it will be.
“I am open to everything. I can play in any league, but my style of play is best suited to Spain.”
