Brazilian outfit Vasco da Gama have been urged to make a move for Tottenham Hotspur’s Lucas Moura with the winger set to leave the Premier League during the summer transfer window.
Lucas has more red cards than he has goals or assists in England’s top flight this season. An awful challenge during last week’s 1-1 draw against Everton meant he was on and off again in the space of just six minutes at Goodison Park, Lucas’ Spurs career looking likely to end with a whimper rather than a roar.
Tottenham, The Athletic report, have opted against extending the former PSG star’s contract. 30-year-old Lucas will leave North London on July 1st.

He reportedly has interest from the MLS, Serie A and the Middle East. Premier League duo Aston Villa and Newcastle United have also been linked.
Lucas has made no secret of his desire to return to his Brazilian homeland, however, and former Brazil international Edmundo would love to see the 2019 Champions League finalist follow in his footsteps at Vasco da Gama.
Could Lucas Moura leave Tottenham Hotspur and return to Brazil?
“(Lucas) has been playing at a high level. He is in good physical shape, far from being a guy who is coming to the end of his career after more than ten years in Europe,” Edmundo says on his Mundo Ed YouTube channel.
“I am sure that Vasco fans would be very happy happy if Lucas Moura was signed.”
Lucas has not started a single Premier League game this season. Even when free from injury, he remains behind Heung-Min Son, Richarlison, Dejan Kulusevski and January addition Arnaut Danjuma in the Tottenham Hotspur pecking order.
“It is still early to close (a deal) with any club,” Lucas’ agent Junior Pedroso said recently, via Jorge Nicola. “I can assure you that we are meeting with many interested teams in Europe.”
Sevilla and Fenerbahce are reportedly keeping tabs on the situation. Lucas is reportedly a target for Palmeiras too but Pedroso – after ruling out a switch to Flamengo – was similarly disparaging about Palmeiras’ chances.
“It’s not true,” the agent adds. “There was no contact from Palmeiras. No poll, no proposal.”
