According to the Daily Mail, Everton are considering Manuel Pellegrini as a potential replacement for Carlo Ancelotti at Goodison Park.
As covered by us earlier, the 67-year-old has made his way onto Everton’s shortlist, despite currently being in a job.
The Chilean is in charge of Real Betis, who he guided to a respectable sixth-place finish in La Liga this season.
Pellegrini needs no introduction.
He’s a man who’s won an abundance of silverware, and has attracted admirers from all across Europe with his style of play.
One person who’s become an admirer of Pellegrini is Pep Guardiola.
What has Pep Guardiola had to say?
Speaking before his Bayern Munich side took on Pellegrini’s Manchester City, Guardiola was effusive in his praise for the ex-Real Madrid boss.
The Mirror quote Guardiola as saying: “I am really impressed with him as a coach – I would like to be like him.
“For me it is always a pleasure to play against Manuel, because he loves to play the right way – he always tries to keep the ball, his teams always keep possession and try to play football.”
Now, you might be sceptical. Guardiola often shows his peers respect, after all.
However, Pellegrini is still a top-class manager, who has a glowing CV.
The former Malaga boss has managed Villarreal, Real Madrid and Manchester City among others, winning the Premier League in 2014.
Pellegrini has won 394 of his 789 games as a manager, averaging 1.72 points per game throughout his career.
It would be interesting to see how he gets on in the Premier League after being sacked by West Ham.
His impressive work so far at Real Betis should certainly be encouraging for those who have doubts over his ability, to say the least.
