According to a report by the Mail, Everton are now considering a move for former Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini.

The ex-West Ham boss is currently in charge of Real Betis in La Liga, but Everton are considering offering him a route back into English football.

Pellegrini’s CV is second-to-none having managed the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City in the past, and he’s of course a Premier League winner, having triumphed with City in 2014.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Pellegrini has been in the frame for the Everton job. The Chilean was actually interviewed for the job back in 2016 after the departure of Roberto Martinez, but he was rejected due to the fact the club felt he was too stand-offish.

Whether or not the Toffees have changed their mind on Pellegrini’s attitude is unknown, but it seems as though they’ve not ruled out the idea of appointing him.

The report states that Nuno Espirito Santo remains the favourite for the job, but we still don’t know for sure who will be in the dugout at Goodison Park next term.

Pellegrini would certainly be an interesting appointment, and this is definitely a situation to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.
