Arsenal secured their place in the next round of the EFL Trophy as the U-23 side eliminated Ipswich Town on penalties, and Jack Wilshere was there on the touchline with the coaching staff.
The Hale End academy graduate is currently training with the Gunners as he looks for a new club. Wilshere has been a free agent since the summer, and Arsenal have since offered the midfielder a place to train as well as to do his coaching badges
The 29-year-old playmaker has been spotted taking charge of various training sessions at Hale End at different youth levels. Yet last night saw Wilshere join Kevin Betsy on the sideline for Arsenal’s U-23 clash against Ipswich.
After going 2-0 down at the break, the Gunners fought back to take the game into penalties, which Arsenal won to book their ticket to the next round of the EFL Trophy.
Indeed, Wilshere’s return to Arsenal was seen as a great gesture from the club. And with the midfielder now working on his badges, supporters are eager for the former West Ham star to take up a role at the club.
As well as coaching, fans are still keen on Wilshere signing for Arsenal as a player on a short-term basis. The Africa Cup of Nations will see the club’s midfield options shrink in January with Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny on international duty.
