LeBron James confirmed his perhaps somewhat surprising move to the Philadelphia 76ers last week.

The NBA icon was arguably the hottest free agent in the sport after deciding to part ways with the Los Angeles Lakers, and there was much anticipation around his next move.

A return to the Cleveland Cavaliers could have made some sense, but he instead opted to move to the 76ers, and Mookie Betts has now reacted.

Mookie Betts supports LeBron James’ move to 76ers

The 76ers are a historically good team, but they have not won an NBA Championship since 1983.

Meanwhile, they have not even made it to the Finals since 2001.

This has prompted some mixed reactions to James’ move, including from WWE superstar The Miz, who suggested that 76ers fans could turn on LeBron if he does not take them to the Finals in the coming season.

Betts, on the other hand, has been more positive. While he did admit that the move is ‘crazy’, he added that James needs to do what is best for him and he is sure the former Lakers ace will enjoy Philly.

In a post shared by Dodgers Nation, the MLB star said: “It’s crazy, but he’s gotta do what’s best for him. I’m always [an] advocate for that, so I’m sure he’ll go enjoy Philly.

“There’s a lot of good golf up there for him and obviously a really good basketball team.”

Now the move is confirmed, fans may have to wait until October 8 to see James in action.

The Brooklyn Nets recently announced their 2026 pre-season schedule, which includes an exhibition game against the 76ers on that date.

Whether James will actually feature in the game remains to be seen.
