Chris Sutton has claimed that Manchester City might have made a ‘mistake’ selling Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal.

During the 2022 summer transfer window, there was quite the turnaround at the Etihad, with old faces leaving and new faces joining the Premier League champions.

Jesus, Zinchenko and Raheem Sterling were the three standout departures, with the latter heading towards the other side of London and joining Chelsea instead.

Despite Chelsea’s poor start to the season, which also resulted in Thomas Tuchel’s sacking, Sterling has actually been one of his side’s better players.

As for Jesus and Zinchenko, well, with Arsenal sitting top of the Premier League table, then that tells you everything you need to know about their early impact.

But during a call with a Man City fan on 606, former striker Sutton questioned whether the champions were right to allow the duo to leave for Arsenal given that they might now be their closest challengers for the title, as he told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.

“Were Man City right to sell Jesus and Zinchenko to Arsenal?” asked Sutton. “That looks like it could have been a mistake.”

CAN ARSENAL CHALLENGE MAN CITY?

Well, one thing is for sure, Arsenal deserve huge credit for sitting top of the table and it’s a position they have earned.

They came through the Tottenham test with flying colours over the weekend, and on Sunday, they will host Liverpool.

Previously, it has been Jurgen Klopp and Co. who have been nibbling away at dominant Man City, but they have started the new season in an abject fashion.

So, could Arsenal now replace Liverpool as Man City’s closest challengers? Well, if they win at the weekend, then it sends out another statement of intent.
