Andy Walker loved Kyogo Furuhashi’s actions straight after he scored Celtic’s equaliser during their 2-2 draw against Rangers in the Old Firm derby at Ibrox on Monday, as he told Sky Sports Football.

With minutes left on the clock, Kyogo silenced the Rangers crowd with a stunning first-time and composed finish from five yards out.

Rather than celebrating, the 27-year-old proceeded to run towards the ball to pick it up, so Ange Postecoglou’s side could look for the winner, in the end, it didn’t come, as Michael Beale’s first Old Firm game as Gers boss ended in a draw.

It was a game where errors were prominent and costly, no more so than from striker Alfredo Morelos, who gifted Daizen Maeda with the opener following a blind pass after just five minutes.

The game was cagey, thereafter, with Celtic going into the break with the lead, and once again, the opening five or so minutes of the half were drama-filled, this time in Rangers’ favour, including James Tavernier converting a thunderous penalty after Carl Starfelt’s needless foul on Fashion Sakala.

When Kyogo then produced the equalising goal, he showcased the mentality of wanting the winner and Walker was all for it in the commentary box.

“Look at the reaction of Kyogo,” said Walker. “He scores, but he runs after the ball. He’s looking for another one. It’s a brilliant finish when you want a bit of control in the business area of the pitch, Kyogo gives you it. Another late goal from Celtic.”

NINE POINT LEAD

That’s the magic number as Celtic will be pretty happy with the point, given that they fell 2-1 behind in the second half and also because of the cushion they have on their rivals.

This was Rangers’ chance to test the waters and see what three points would do to Celtic’s mindset heading into the crunch moments of the season.

But the Bhoys, baring a collapse, should see this one through and secure the Scottish Premiership title – and the title might be done by the time they meet in April at Paradise.
