Hugo Lloris praised Tottenham-linked winger Marcus Edwards in September after his side suffered a 2-0 defeat to Sporting CP in the Champions League, and now the pair could be reunited this month.
It was reported on Thursday that Antonio Conte and Co. had been offered the chance to sign long-time target Edwards, but for half his actual market value in January.
The reason as explained was that based on the fact that Tottenham have a clause in place that entitles them to half of any sale involving their ex-youth product, Sporting were willing to let go of their talisman at a bargain fee.
In the 2022/2023 season, Marcus Edwards has impressed out wide for Sporting, especially in the Champions League.
The blend of quick feet, raw pace and directness Edwards possesses makes him a much-needed profile in this Tottenham Hotspur side.
Unlike Dejan Kulusevski, who profiles as a creative winger, the Englishman is more of an outlet, which would make him such an astute signing if he reunites with the club.
In any case, Tottenham are in desperate need of creativity and Marcus Edwards can provide that in abundance.
And just recently, a club legend sang the transfer target’s praises.
Hugo Lloris raved about Tottenham-linked star Marcus Edwards

Hugo Lloris was lavished praise on Tottenham-linked wideman Marcus Edwards, after his side were beaten 2-0 by Sporting CP in the Champions League back in September.
“Yeah [Marcus Edwards has blossomed]. He’s more mature. He’s 23 years old now [turned 24 in December].”
“It was the same quality we [Tottenham] could see a few years ago when he trained with the first-team.”
“He has the profile to play in that type of team, in that type of league, but obviously, if he continues in the same way, he will have a bright future”, Lloris told Football.London’s Alasdair Gold.
Since Hugo Lloris is clearly a fan of Marcus Edwards, only time will tell whether Tottenham pull off a deal for their ex-player in January.
