Liverpool youngster and former Celtic youth product, Ben Doak, has posted on his Instagram story ‘go on’, as Rory Wilson is close to joining Aston Villa from Rangers.
A couple of months ago, Doak made the switch from Celtic to Liverpool and now his fellow countryman is about to join him in England.
Fabrizio Romano posted on Twitter that the ‘talented Scottish striker’ has now agreed ‘personal terms’ with Villa and he is set to move to the Midlands.
The Italian journalist also pointed out that Steven Gerrard, who left Rangers for the Villa job back in November, has played a major role in the 16-year-old’s signing.
Given the lure of English football, its financial power and how it’s dubbed ‘the best league in the world’.
Then it’s pretty hard for young and upcoming stars, further up north, to say no to any interested parties in England.
Billy Gilmour has been another big-name to move from Rangers academy to a top Premier League club in Chelsea.
And now Wilson, who has scored 49 goals at youth level this season, is set to go down a familiar road.
Of course, given that Gerrard was at Ibrox for a number of years, he would have seen and heard a lot about Wilson.
So, he has that added advantage of knowing the young kid, who will join Villa’s ever-progressing super-talented academy.
Only last summer, they were selling their academy product, Jack Grealish, to Manchester City for a British transfer record of £100 million.
And, in next to no time, another star is being born in Jacob Ramsey, so the chances for players to thrive and perform are there for all to see.
