Jacob Ramsey may have missed out on a senior England call, but the Aston Villa young gun is seriously banging on Gareth Southgate’s door.
On Friday, England U21’s recorded a 4-1 win over Andorra during their Euro qualifier, with Villa’s expert ball-carrier getting on the scoresheet with a quite brilliant finish into the bottom corner.
The 20-year-old posted on his Instagram ‘all smiles’ after his first goal for the England U21’s, as he was lauded by a number of his teammates in the comments section.
Villa’s very own, Lamare Bogarde, labelled Ramsey a ‘big player’, whilst Manchester City’s, Morgan Rogers, called him ‘top’.
Everton flyer, Anthony Gordon, who also got on the scoresheet on Friday night simply posted ‘the boy’, whilst the likes of Emiliano Buendia and Conor Hourihane reacted with clapping and fire emojis.
It was a Steven Gerrard-Esque finish from Ramsey and signs that he has been Villa’s most improved player this season.
After the West Midlands outfit sold Jack Grealish for £100 million last summer, they have another highly-rated youngster making his way on their conveyer belt of talent.
At the rate Ramsey is going at, it won’t be too long before he earns his first national call-up.
With the 2022 World Cup set to take place in November, he will feel that he has a chance of making a surprise surge into that squad.
But, if he does that, then he has to end this current campaign in a strong fashion, as well as fly out from the traps next season.
