Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have been linked with a move for Bayer Leverkusen central midfielder Exequiel Palacios in the final days of the summer transfer window.
According to The Athletic, Liverpool are interested in signing Exequiel Palacios from Bayer Leverkusen this week.

The former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners are on the hunt for a new midfielder.
And one of the players that Liverpool are reportedly looking to sign this week is Palacios.
The Athletic, though, has added that Bayer managing director for sport, Simon Rolfes, does not want to sell the £55,000-a-week (SalarySport) Palacios this summer.
Palacios is a big fan of Real Madrid star Toni Kroos, formerly of Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.
In January 2020, Bundesliga’s official website quoted the Argentina international as saying: “I always liked watching the Bundesliga in Argentina and really liked Toni Kroos at Bayern. He’s one of my favourite players.”
Palacios was part of the Argentina squad that won the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
During his time at River Plate, the midfielder won Copa Argentina twice, the Copa Libertadores once and the Recopa Sudamericana on one occasion.
Palacios has made two appearances in the Bundesliga for Bayer this season.
The central midfielder made 19 starts and six substitute appearances in the Bundesliga last season.
The 24-year-old scored four goals and gave two assists in those games.
Palacios is an important player in Bayer’s team, and it is hard to see the Bundesliga club sell him so late in the summer transfer window.
There is simply not much time left to bring in a suitable replacement.
Bayer are aiming to at least finish in the UEFA Champions League places in the Bundesliga table this season.
Head coach Xabi Alonso needs all of his best players available to achieve success in that quest, including Palacios.
