Wolverhampton Wanderers are unaware of any interest Liverpool might have in a transfer for Matheus Nunes. Wolves also believe the midfielder still has a big future to play at Molineux.
That is according to 90min, which reports the West Midlands outfit are confident in the 24-year-old being a big part of their long-term plan. Nunes only joined Wolves last August from Sporting Lisbon, as well, after Bruno Lage smashed their club record spend in a £42m deal.

Wolves paid Sporting Lisbon an upfront £38m with a further £4m in add-ons over his five-year contract at Molineux, too. Yet neither Lage nor his successor, Julen Lopetegui, has yet managed to get the best out of the Portuguese. The 11-cap ace has played 16 times so far.

Nunes is yet to score and has only provided one assist over his outings for Wolves so far in 2022/23. He has further only started 12 of his 14 Premier League appearances and one of two in the Carabao Cup. Lopetegui could now field him at Aston Villa on Wednesday night.
Lopetegui will also hope to see Nunes find greater consistency with his performances over the second half of the term. The lack of evenness from his displays was the Rio de Janeiro, Brazil-born technician’s greatest weakness before the World Cup after some charging runs.

Liverpool are eying Matheus Nunes’ transfer from Wolves for the summer
While 90min reports Wolves are unaware of any interest Liverpool may have in Nunes, The Telegraph has credited the Reds with exploring his transfer for this summer. Jurgen Klopp had eyed a deal for the midfielder in 2022 but was willing to wait a year to secure a swoop.
Now, though, Liverpool would face paying Wolves £44m to sign Nunes in the next summer transfer window. A price that Sky Sports adds could even reach in excess of £50m, despite his less-than-ideal debut campaign at Wolves and slow adaptation to the Premier League.
