Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is a ‘firm fan’ of Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge, according to The Athletic.

The report has claimed that Fulham are leading the race for Berge, and that Championship club Sheffield United could sell the Norway international midfielder for £22 million in the January transfer window.

According to The Mirror (29/01, p77), Newcastle United are considering a move for Berge, described by former Blades manager Chris Wilder as “unique” and “a complete midfielder” in VG in November 2020.

The report has claimed that Liverpool, Chelsea and AC Milan are also interested in the Norwegian in the final days of the January transfer window.

Could Liverpool sign Sander Berge from Sheffield United?

In our view, if Liverpool want to sign Sander Berge in the January transfer window, then they could get him.

After all, if the Blades are willing to sell the Norwegian for £22 million, then the Reds should be able to get a deal done.

It is not really a massive fee.

And Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp reportedly likes him.

Moreover, the 24-year-old has previously said that he would love to play for Liverpool.

Berge told TV2 in November 2019: “Playing at Anfield is a dream for everyone in the world, and not least for Norwegians. Liverpool are the best team [at the moment] and have the most fans.

“So I could certainly like to play at Anfield as often as possible.”

Liverpool are not having the best of times at the moment and could do with refreshing their midfield.

Berge has played in the Premier League and has done well in the division.

We think that the Norwegian would be a good signing for Liverpool.
