Ahead of Inter Milan’s 0-0 draw against Porto in the Champions League on Tuesday, Jamie Carragher expressed his admiration towards Liverpool target Nicolo Barella.
Very recently, it was reported that Liverpool were keen on signing Barella in the summer, with Fabinho going the other way in a potential swap deal.
Furthermore, it was stated that Liverpool will have to fork up a £88 million fee to sign Nicolo Barella to kickstart their midfield overhaul, with Thiago also reported to be put up for sale in yet another player-for-player exchange deal.
And it seems as if Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher is already a huge admirer of Nicolo Barella, whose contract expires in 2026.
Carragher waxes lyrical about Liverpool-linked Barella
Additionally, the Italian international has also been linked with a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur, who seem to constantly be speculated with signing Inter players due to the presence of Antonio Conte.
One thing that can be said for sure is that if Liverpool end up signing Nicolo Barella, Jamie Carragher will be chuffed beyond belief.
“When you think about how teams set up now, you see Inter play with a back three with five in midfield, or a 4-3-3, and I think he’s probably one of the best in Europe playing in that tucked in, right sided central midfield position. He’s box-to-box, he gets goals from there. We saw how outstanding he was for his national team in winning the European Championships”, he said on CBS Sports.

Carragher continued about Liverpool target Barella, saying, “He’s that player who can open things up, he gets in there, but that inside right position now is so important in football and can you make runs from that position?”
“He makes runs ahead of the striker. And he’s a huge goal threat.”
“Any top team needs to have goals from midfield. It’ll be really interesting if he actually stays at Inter but you think one day would he go the Premier League or one of the Spanish giants because I certainly think he has the ability to do so.”
Now, only time will tell if Liverpool try to convince Nicolo Barella to sport red next season after Jamie Carragher’s glorious assessment of him.
