Italian outlet CMW claim Liverpool could sell Thiago to AC Milan in order to fund a move for midfielder Nicolo Barella from Inter Milan – with the Reds keenly aware that Thiago has entered the final 18 months of his contract at Anfield.
Thiago, 31, has hardly enjoyed the success he might have hoped for at Liverpool when he swapped Bayern for the Reds. In three years, Liverpool have managed just an FA Cup and League Cup win. Thiago has played just 93 times.
The Spain star has been riddled by injury, currently on the sidelines with another issue. His deal at Liverpool ends in the summer of June 2024 and if the Reds are to get a fee for his services, it might be they sell him in the coming months.
The Reds need to strengthen their midfield and plan for the future. Stefan Bajcetic looks as though he will be around for a number of years. Thiago, Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Fabinho look as though they are past their best.
Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are out of contract this summer and Curtis Jones does not look as though he will cut the grade in a Liverpool shirt. New signings are required. Jude Bellingham is a name that is regularly linked.

Liverpool could sell Thiago to fund a move for Nicolo Barella
The report claims that Milan are keen to bring in Thiago in the summer and the Reds are aware that they may have to sell. They want Barella as a replacement. Selling Thiago could help fund a Barella move. GDS say he is rated at £70m.
CMW also say that Barella is a target for Tottenham but a move to Spurs seems some how, more unlikely. Of course, if Spurs do finish in the top four ahead of Liverpool then that may tempt Barella. But, Liverpool want to sign the Inter ace.
