Liverpool extensively scouted Ben White when he was on loan at Leeds United, according to The Athletic.
It has been reported that Liverpool scout Andy O’Brien spent several months watching 23-year-old central defender White play in the Championship for Leeds.
Interestingly, O’Brien is a former Leeds player.
White spent the 2019-20 campaign on loan at Leeds from Brighton and Hove Albion.
The youngster, who can also operate in midfield, played 46 Championship games that season.
White scored one goal and gave two assists in those matches.
The report has added that despite Liverpool having interest in White, a deal is now unlikely as defender Ibrahima Konate is joining from RB Leipzig this summer.
Liverpool still being linked
White is a brilliant central defender whose performances for Brighton this past season have earned him a place in the England squad for the Euro 2020 finals.
The Daily Mail reported this month that Liverpool are interested in the 23-year-old despite the signing of Konate.

The report added that Brighton are now looking for £50 million to sell the 23-year-old described as “fantastic” by Arsenal legend Ian Wright on ITV (7:10pm, June 6, 2021).
Liverpool are actually not in dire need for a centre-back now, especially after the signing of Konate.
Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip, Konate, Nathaniel Phillips and Rhys Williams will be the options for manager Jurgen Klopp.
