Florian Neuhaus will stay at Borussia Monchengladbach for next season despite Jurgen Klopp telling the German he wants to sign him at Liverpool, according to Sport1.

Klopp expressed in no uncertain terms his desire for Neuhaus to move to Anfield during recent talks with the midfielder. However, the Reds will not move for the 24-year-old this summer, as their plans do not allow for any arrivals.

Liverpool are in the midst of clearing the deadwood on Merseyside and already have a wealth of engine room occupants. A lack of sales so far also ensures the 2019/20 Premier League champions cannot afford Gladbach’s €40m (£34m) asking price.

Adi Hutter now plans on Neuhaus offering a leading role in his Borussia Monchengladbach side after replacing Marco Rose. The £54,000-per-week gem is also ready to put his future to one side and focus on delivering at Borussia-Park next season.

Neuhaus wants to cement his place in the Germany side under new head coach Hansi Flick after debuting last year. Joachim Low gifted the 1860 Munich product his international bow in October, but left him on the bench in all four of Die Mannschaft’s Euro 2020 fixtures.

Neuhaus is completely relaxed over his club future after positive discussions with Hutter and is looking forward to next season. A transfer in 2022 is now more likely, but Bayern Munich could rival Liverpool if they revive their Neuhaus pursuit.

Bayern will re-examine their midfield core next year and are keeping a close eye on the Gladbach star. Die Fohlen are also under no pressure to sell after a €40m (£34m) release clause in Neuhaus’s contract, that runs to 2024, expired at the end of spring.

Will Liverpool deny Klopp chance to sign Neuhaus from Monchengladbach?

Liverpool’s difficulties offloading their unwanted players and a lack of funds will likely deny Klopp his chance to sign Neuhaus from Borussia Monchengladbach this summer. He is now set to give Hutter his all to help Die Fohlen return to Europe after failing to qualify.

Neuhaus wanted to join Klopp at Anfield if Liverpool could agree terms with his Bundesliga side. Christian Falk stated on his Bayern Insider podcast in April that the midfielder’s heart was set on switching to Merseyside.

Liverpool were also more likely to sign Borussia Monchengladbach’s Neuhaus than target Leicester star Youri Tielemans, per The Athletic. But Klopp could now miss out on both, with Het Laatste Nieuws reporting Brendan Rodgers will not let Tielemans leave.
