Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur both reportedly fancy Red Bull Salzburg starlet Benjamin Sesko – but he could be off to Borussia Dortmund instead.

Spanish newspaper AS first broke Liverpool’s interest in Sesko back in October, claiming they were battling Manchester City.

Bild then added in February that Tottenham are interest in signing Sesko too having noticed his potential.

Sesko, 18, joined Salzburg from Domzale in his native Slovenia back in 2019 and now has 19 league appearances this term.

In all competitions, Sesko has notched nine goals and seven assists in 31 first-team outings for Salzburg.

That’s not bad for an 18-year-old and interest from big clubs is no great shock.

Sesko’ agent Elvis Basanovic has even claimed that the striker is ‘one of the fastest forwards in the world’ despite standing at 6ft 4in tall.

Liverpool certainly love signing a player or two with ties to Red Bull; Sadio Mane, Naby Keita, Takumi Minamino and Ibrahima Konate were all signed after player for Red Bull clubs.

Sesko could be the next but Liverpool and Tottenham have now received something of a blow in their pursuit of the striker.

Fussballeck in Germany report that agent Basanovic was in the stands to watch Borussia Dortmund beat Wolfsburg 6-1 over the weekend.

Talks were held over a transfer, with Sesko likely to be the subject as the ‘most prominent’ player on Basanovic’s books.

Dortmund know that Erling Haaland is likely to be moving on this summer and will be desperate to add strikers this summer.

Sesko is absolutely one for the future, and leaving him on loan at Salzburg for next season may be the best idea, but it looks like Dortmund are very keen.

If Liverpool or Tottenham don’t want to miss out on Sesko, they may need to move very quickly.
