Jose Enrique has urged Liverpool to take action and sign Benfica striker Darwin Nunez after his eye-catching performance at Anfield on Wednesday night. The striker scored one, and had two more disallowed for offside.
Nunez, 22, has been on fire this season, taking his tally to 32 goals for the campaign. Still incredibly young, a move to the Premier League looks more and more likely. Liverpool are among those said to be interested.
Melissa Reddy recently told Sky Sports that the Reds have held a long-term interest in the Uruguay international. Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson even praised Nunez this week, saying the striker is both “strong” and “quick”.
Jorge Mendes is said to have held talks over the possibility of Nunez replacing Harry Kane at Tottenham – while 90Min say he is rated at £65m. Now, Enrique has urged his old side to get a deal done for the striker.

Enrique on Nunez: Liverpool signing striker would be end of Firmino…
Like Mo Salah and Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino is also about to enter the final 12 months of his contract. The Brazilian scored twice in Wednesday’s 3-3 draw – which eventually saw Liverpool progress, 6-4 on aggregate.
But after seven years at Liverpool and 322 appearances, Firmino will turn 31 in October and Liverpool may feel it is time for a change. No point handing a player that is going to deteriorate a new deal soon.
Instead, selling him for a decent fee this summer might be a better alternative. Plenty of clubs would love to sign Firmino. His fee could contribute to the expense Liverpool would have to part with for Nunez.
