Borussia Dortmund wonderkid and rumoured Liverpool target Youssoufa Moukoko made history last night as the teenager became the youngest player to feature for Germany since Uwe Seeler in 1954.
As per OptaFranz, the 17-year-old attacker has broken yet another record as Moukoko started for Germany in their 1-0 win against Oman in their final fixture before the 2022 FIFA World Cup, with the Dortmund youngster now the second-youngest player to ever represent Die Mannschaft.
Although it was another debutant in 29-year-old Niclas Fullkrug who stole the show in Muscat, Moukoko’s record is still something to behold, with the attacker the youngest player to make their first appearance for Germany since Seeler 68 years ago.
With Moukoko set for a breakout tournament, during which he will turn 18, interest will likely ramp up in the teenager. Much to the dismay of Liverpool, who according to Sport Bild are leading the race to sign the £26m attacker, who is on course to become a free agent next summer.
Indeed, the Reds might have bitten off more than they can chew when it comes to chasing Moukoko, with Dortmund likely to go into overdrive to keep the attacker in Germany once the attacker returns from Qatar, especially if the youngster has a historic World Cup.
Dortmund could be forced to renew Moukoko’s contract if Germany impress

Germany head to Qatar, like most World Cups, one of the favourites for the competition. And with Moukoko set for a starring role despite his tender age, Dortmund could be forced into action in giving the youngster a new contract even if the attacker flourishes and draws in even more interest beyond Liverpool.
After all, the World Cup is the biggest platform a player can perform on. And if Moukoko catches the eye, there’s every chance that Dortmund could funnel in resources to keep the attacker in Germany even if the likes of Liverpool want to move for the wonderkid in the January transfer window.
