Feyenoord defender David Hancko admits he loves watching Liverpool as the Slovakia international’s agent confirmed that the Premier League giants are keeping tabs on his Eredivisie-winning client.

Arne Slot’s keen eye for detail appears to have rubbed off on his highly-rated centre-half.

David Hancko was a key part of the Feyenoord team who celebrated Eredivisie glory under Slot last season, with the defender learning a lot from his coach when it comes to the tactical side of the game.

So much so that Hancko, who HITC Football understands has been scouted by Liverpool, now watches football not so much from a player’s perspective but with the mindset of a manager, his appreciation for Jurgen Klopp’s side only growing as his understanding of the game improves.

“When I watch other matches in the evening, I start analysing. How do those teams create pressure? Where are the spaces? I now watch football like a trainer,” Hancko tells Voetbal International

“When I see Liverpool building up, I really enjoy it when they make the right choice and find the free man.”

Hancko, who joined Feyenoord from Sparta Prague back in 2022, also opened up on his admiration for Virgil van Dijk. And there is a very real chance that Hancko finds himself competing with the totemic Dutchman for a place in Klopp’s team at some point in the near future, the title-winning 26-year-old one of a number of left-sided centre-halves on Liverpool’s radar alongside Levi Colwill, Piero Hincapie and Goncalo Inacio

“As an agency, we are in contact not only with these two clubs, but also with others who are looking into David’s situation,” agent Branislav Jasurek told TN when asked about the interest of both Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain.

Jasurek believes that Hancko is likely to stick around at De Kuip for the remaindr of the current campaign, however, with a departure far more likely in July than in January.

“I estimate that, 80 to 90 per cent, David will stay in Rotterdam, because Feyenoord is fighting for the Champions League and the people at Feyenoord know that David Hancko will be sold even in the summer,” the representative adds.

“(For Hancko to leave), it would have to be one of the big clubs. He will certainly not go from Feyenoord, which is going to play in the Champions League, to a club that will play in the bottom half of the Premier League.”
