The agent of Feyenoord’s Eredivisie winning centre-half appears to have confirmed Liverpool’s interest while insisting that the Czech Republic international will only join one of the top clubs in the Premier League.
HITC Football reported on Tuesday that Liverpool are ready to test Chelsea’s resolve with an approach for Levi Colwill.
Jurgen Klopp’s side retain an interest, despite the former Brighton and Hove Albion loanee signing a new contract until the summer of 2029 at Stamford Bridge.
But Colwill is hardly the only option under consideration. Far from it. A left-sided centre-half – one capable of potentially replacing Virgil van Dijk long-term – appears to be a major priority at Anfield.

Liverpool eye Feyenoord’s David Hancko
Goncalo Inacio of Sporting Lisbon and Rennes’ Arthur Theate have been mentioned too. Lucas Beraldo was linked before joining PSG. Ditto Piero Hincapie, the Bayer Leverkusen stopper’s agent confirming that Liverpool had shown an interest over the summer.
Now, the representative of a 2023 Eredivisie champion has also gone public with Liverpool’s admiration of Feyenoord stopper David Hancko, while insisting that the former Sparta Prague ace will only depart for a club who could be considered a step up from the Dutch giants.
“As an agency, we are in contact not only with these two clubs (Liverpool and PSG), but also with others who are looking into David’s situation,” Branislav Jasurek, who works for the FairSports Agency, tells TN.
“I estimate that, 80 to 90 per cent, David will stay in Rotterdam, because Feyenoord is fighting for the Champions League and the people at Feyenoord know that David Hancko will be sold even in the summer.
“It would have to be one of the big clubs. He will certainly not go from Feyenoord, which is going to play in the Champions League, to a club that will play in the bottom half of the Premier League.”
A long-term Virgil van Dijk replacement?
Interestingly, Hancko admitted only recently that one of his favourite players is none other than Van Dijk himself, the man who could find himself learning from at Anfield.
“I love Virgil van Dijk,” Hancko, who is as cultured and as composed in possession as you’d expect from an Arne Slot centre-half, tells Voetbal International.
“For me, before the World Cup in Qatar, he was the best defender in the world. There was no player who could go past him. I don’t want to compare myself with Virgil, but that invincible feeling he exudes was something I felt last season very strongly.
“Just like Virgil, I am not afraid of anyone. But that is different from not respecting my opponent.”
