Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate has vowed to take Khephren Thuram under his wing if he arrives at Anfield.

Liverpool are interested in signing Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram and Ibrahima Konate would love to see him arrive.

Konate has been speaking to RMC Sport about Thuram amid ongoing rumours about a move to Merseyside.

Defender Konate admitted that Thuram is like his little brother having watched him grow up and develop from a young age.

Konate noted that Thuram’s progression has been ‘incredible’, and he was stunned by Thuram’s size and technical ability in France training.

Konate added that he would be ‘very happy’ to see Thuram join Liverpool, vowing to help him become a ‘top player’.

The Liverpool ace also stated that Thuram would be ‘surprised’ by the support he would receive at Anfield, urging him to ignore anyone who says it’s too soon to make that move.

“Khéphren, he’s like my little brother, he’s someone I saw growing up,” said Konate. “I was with his big brother in the center training but Khéphren, I saw him grow. I saw him perform and progress at a level… it was incredible. Even when he came to the France team for his first selection. I saw him at the training and I was really surprised by his size and his technical ease.”

“I would be very happy for him to come to Liverpool, I would take him under my wing and I would do everything for him to progress and become the player he wants to become, continues Konaté. him to work. But I would do everything to make him a top player,” he added.

“When I am in Leipzig and I sign for Liverpool, many people say that it was too early, that it was not the right choice. In the end, I proved all these people wrong so you shouldn’t listen to people. If Khéphren has the opportunity to come to a club like Liverpool, I think he will be surprised by the enthusiasm that will come behind him. It’s up to him to work. He’s still very young but he has an incredible margin for improvement so I’m confident,” he added.

Khephren Thuram to Liverpool – the latest

Fabrizio Romano reported last week that Liverpool had scheduled a new round of talks to try and sign Thuram.

Get French Football News reported on Saturday that ‘constructive talks’ had been held between Liverpool and Thuram.

However, it’s stated that Nice are showing next to no interest in doing business over Thuram.

Liverpool will seemingly find it difficult to land Thuram and they will need an ‘explosive’ offer to sign him according to French reporter Santi Aouna.

Liverpool have already splashed the cash on a new midfielder by signing Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and Hove Albion.

Nice would seemingly need a staggering offer to even consider doing business, potentially eating up Liverpool’s summer budget.

Liverpool could be priced out of a deal this summer but if anybody at Anfield is hoping the move materialises, it’s probably Konate.
