Liverpool will need an ‘explosive’ offer to convince Nice into selling midfielder Khephren Thuram this summer.

Nice are hoping to keep Khephren Thuram for another year despite strong interest from Liverpool this summer.

That is according to Foot Mercato reporter Santi Aouna, who claims that initial contact has been made by Liverpool.

No offer is on the table just though with Liverpool still weighing up their options for bolstering their midfield.

It’s stated that Nice genuinely believe that they can keep Thuram for one more year before selling him.

Only an ‘explosive’ offer would convince Nice to strike a deal, meaning the gauntlet has been laid down to Liverpool.

Liverpool are already completing a move for Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Alexis Mac Allister in the coming days.

That deal won’t be as hefty as first thought, but will still dent Liverpool’s budget as they plan other midfield additions.

Khephren Thuram dream Liverpool move in danger

The dream for Thuram may be to join Liverpool alongside Borussia Monchengladbach star Manu Kone.

90Min reported last week that Liverpool have opened talks to sign both Thuram and Kone.

That would have surely been a perfect situation for Thuram.

Not only would he be completing a big move to one of Europe’s biggest clubs, but he would be making the move alongside a close friend.

Thuram and Kone go way back to their time together in France having emerged in Paris.

The two midfielders featured together in the Boulogne-Billancourt youth ranks before going their separate ways.

Thuram and Kone have continued their friendship over the years and have featured in the France Under-21’s too.

The idea of rekindling that midfield partnership at Anfield would have surely been a dream come true for both players.

Yet with Nice now standing form on a deal this summer, Liverpool may be forced to look elsewhere for a new midfielder.
