Don Hutchison has told Liverpool to ‘break the bank’ for West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice and Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham, after Chelsea hijacked the transfer of Mykhailo Mudryk.
The former Liverpool midfielder posted on Twitter ‘fair play to Chelsea‘, after owner Todd Boehly wasted no time in getting the 22-year-old, after he was destined to join Arsenal.
In the summer, Chelsea, then under the stewardship of Thomas Tuchel, spent well over £200 million on players, well, despite their struggles this season, which sees them sitting tenth in the Premier League table, they aren’t stopping there and they are throwing more money at players.

They recently secured a £650k-a-week outlay for Joao Felix on a six-month loan deal from Atletico Madrid, before the Portugal star proceeded to get sent off on his debut.
And it’s now been suggested that the transfer fee Chelsea are paying Shakhtar Donetsk for Mudryk is £89 million (Sky Sports) – a price the current Premier League leaders simply refused to match.
Whatever fans think of Boehly’s tactics, one thing is for sure, the American businessman is well and truly going for it. This is something Hutchison wants FSG to learn from.
FSG WOULD NEVER…
On one hand, it’s well and truly bonkers the amount of money Boehly has spent since taking the reigns at Stamford Bridge.
That’s nearly half a billion pounds worth of players, and he has barely had two transfer windows.
On one hand, the words Financial Fair Play have to be brought up because this is simply crazy and it has to be questioned how a club can spend so much.
But, on the other, Liverpool fans wouldn’t mind if their own American owners went money-crazy in the market, especially in the midfield area, and blew everyone out of the water for the likes of Jude Bellingham.
