Liverpool now have a golden opportunity to sign Sander Berge from Sheffield United as some significant news emerges.
What’s the story?
Well, it was Jeunes Footeux in France who claimed that Jürgen Klopp would like to sign the Norway international.
Interestingly, Berge has already spoken about his desire to play for Liverpool in an interview with TV2.
The Sheffield United No.8 – who cost the Blades £22m – said: “Playing at Anfield is a dream for everyone in the world, and not least for Norwegians. Liverpool are the best team and have the most fans, so I could certainly like to play at Anfield as often as possible.”
Now, Liverpool could get their hands on the 24-year-old.
As detailed by Yorkshire Live, Sheffield United have now been placed under a transfer embargo due to an issue regarding payment of a transfer fee to another side.

It comes amid serious financial issues at Bramall Lane, which Yorkshire Live state can only be addressed with promotion to the Premier League, significant investment or player sales.
In regards to that latter point, Berge is arguably Sheffield United’s most valuable asset, and if money needs to be raised, you would imagine the Blades would look to sell the Norwegian first.
As Liverpool find themselves in need of midfield reinforcements, negotiations for Berge could develop quite quickly given the situation, if the Reds make initial contact.
Liverpool should bid for Sanger Berge
In our view, Liverpool must submit a bid for Berge – it could be the easiest deal they do under Klopp.
The Sheffield United maestro will only have 12 months remaining on his contract at the end of the season, so a sale this month would make sense for the Blades before his value drops significantly.
Added to the fact that Berge wants to play for Liverpool and Klopp is apparently a fan, we strongly believe the Reds should take advantage of Sheffield United’s financial issues and make an offer.
