Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have decided to send Nathaniel Phillips out on loan to Bournemouth on January transfer deadline day, according to Sky Sports (Transfer Live blog, 12:18pm, January 31, 2022).

Sky Sports have reported that Bournemouth have agreed a deal with Liverpool to sign Phillips on loan until the end of the season.

The defender will reportedly undergo a medical at Bournemouth later today before completing his loan transfer.

Liverpool sending Phillips out on loan means that the Reds have changed their stance on the 24-year-old central defender.

The Athletic reported in December 2021 that Liverpool were looking for £15 million as transfer fee for the Englishman.

And now, they are allowing the centre-back to leave on loan.

Nathaniel Phillips could flourish away from Liverpool

In our view, Phillips leaving Liverpool for Bournemouth on loan for the rest of the season would benefit him.

The 24-year-old is essentially a squad player at Liverpool at the moment.

That is no good for a defender who played 17 times in the Premier League for Liverpool last season.

Bournemouth are aiming to finish in the Championship top two this season.

So, Phillips would play in a competitive environment, and playing regularly would make him a better player.
