Liverpool’s hopes of signing Karim Adeyemi may have been boosted with Red Bull Salzburg allegedly being a little petty over Erling Haaland’s transfer.
That’s according to Bild, who claim that Adeyemi’s move to Borussia Dortmund is now in danger of collapsing.
Dortmund have a rough agreement in place with Adeyemi and his representatives, but the problem is his club Red Bull Salzburg.
Dortmund are offering €38million (£32million) whereas Salzburg want €45million (£37.5million), with no progress on a deal for weeks now.
The interesting part is that Salzburg are unhappy that Dortmund paid just €20million (£16.5million) to sign Erling Haaland in 2020.
Salzburg feel that Haaland was worth much more and Dortmund paying his release clause now means they need to pay more for Adeyemi.
Dortmund will absolutely feel a little hard-done-by here. If Salzburg didn’t want anybody paying that release clause, why add it to the contract?
Dortmund did nothing wrong but now face a huge bill for Adeyemi as Salzburg allegedly seek some form of retaliation.
Sky Germany noted earlier this month that Dortmund are struggling to sign Adeyemi and Liverpool are waiting in the wings.

Liverpool already have five top attackers in Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino and Luis Diaz but have of course been attracted to Adeyemi.
The 20-year-old attacker has hit 19 goals and four assists in 36 games for Salzburg this season.
Comparing himself to Kylian Mbappe, Adeyemi looks like becoming a star of the future.
Salzburg have something of an attacking production line of late, with Adeyemi following in the footsteps of Haaland, Patson Daka, Hwang Hee-chan and Takumi Minamino.
That’s why Dortmund want him in their attack, but there is seemingly a real chance for Liverpool to hijack their deal and sign Adeyemi themselves.
