Liverpool defender Joe Gomez may be a wanted man in the Premier League, but he is allegedly determined to stay at Anfield for a while yet.

That’s according to Goal, who claim that Liverpool have been looking at Torino defender Bremer.

A deal for Bremer doesn’t make sense right now given that Liverpool already have Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, Ibrahima Konate and Gomez.

Liverpool may though be looking at Bremer just in case Gomez leaves Anfield this summer amid motioning interest.

The Express claim that Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham all want Gomez this summer with a £23million asking price on his head.

The Athletic have added that Steven Gerrard would like to bring Gomez to Aston Villa this summer as he seeks a favour from his former club.

However, Gomez is allegedly ‘determined’ to stay with Liverpool and seemingly isn’t angling for a move away this summer.

Jurgen Klopp – who called Gomez ‘exceptional’ earlier this season – is happy for Gomez to stay too, so there is little pressure for a deal.

Gomez, 24, has only played in six Premier League games this season but has impressed at right back in the absence of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

After a superb assist for Diogo Jota against Watford last week, Gomez has shown his importance to the Liverpool squad.

It will seemingly take a big offer for any interested to club to tempt Liverpool or Gomez into a summer move, even with his England World Cup spot in doubt.

Seemingly willing to fight for his place – whether that’s at right back or centre back – Gomez is taking something of a gamble.

Another season as fourth-choice centre back and emergency right back surely isn’t good enough for a player of Gomez’s quality.

If Gomez does miss out on the England squad later this year, he should absolutely consider a January transfer even if it would hurt to leave Liverpool.
