14 of Jurgen Klopp’s squad, including Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum, are away with their national teams.

With their team in such scintillating form, Liverpool supporters must be frustrated at the timing of this international break. Having seen their side put six past Watford on Sunday, fans of the Reds have to wait a fortnight before seeing them in action again.

All is not lost for those wishing to see their players in action, however. A sizable number of Jurgen Klopp’s squad are with their national teams playing in fixtures that are being broadcast live on UK television.

These begin on Friday evening, with the standout tie being England’s clash with Scotland at Wembley. Four Liverpool men – Nathaniel Clyne, Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana and Daniel Sturridge – are in the Three Lions squad for the match, which kicks off at 7.45pm live on ITV1.

The next Liverpool player to appear live will be the in-form Sadio Mane, who will be lining up for Senegal in their match away at South Africa. BT Sport 1 are showing the qualifier, with kick-off at 1pm on Saturday.

Wales host Serbia on Saturday evening at 7.45pm in a match that could feature some of the Reds squad. Goalkeeper Danny Ward has been called up by the hosts but is unlikely to start, while Lazar Markovic – currently on loan at Sporting Lisbon – may be involved for the visitors.

Sunday sees Georginio Wijnaldum look to build on his first goal for Liverpool as he joins up with the Netherlands squad. Danny Blind’s side are in need of a victory in Luxembourg, a match that is being shown live on Sky Sports 1 at 5pm.

Following that on the same channel, there is the possibility of Reds teammates come up against each other as Belgium host Estonia at 7.45pm.

Simon Mignolet and Divock Origi are in Roberto Martinez’s squad but may find themselves on the bench, while defender Ragnar Klavan will be captaining the visitors in Brussels.

Elsewhere, attacking duo Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho are both in the Brazil squad for their match with Argentina, which kicks off at 12.45am on Friday morning but is not being televised in the UK.

Brazil currently top the South American qualifying group, with Argentina down in sixth. The Reds duo could help make life very difficult for their traditional rivals if they help the hosts to a win this week.

There are also a host of young Liverpool prospects on international duty, including Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has had a fine week; he signed his new Anfield contract on Tuesday and has now joined up with the England Under-19s.
