Kevin Hatchard says he can ‘understand’ why Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur are looking to sign Liverpool transfer target, Micky van de Ven.
The European football expert added that the Wolfsburg centre-back is ‘aggressive’ in his play and he is someone that would be an ‘attractive’ option to the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.
The 22-year-old has taken huge strides this season and Hatchard added that Micky van de Ven has been ‘hot property’ ever since he was a teenager, as he told The Transfer Show on Sky Sports.
Spurs are more in need of defensive options this summer because they struggled big time last season and big changes will need to be made.
On the other hand, Liverpool have a more proven crop of players, including Virgil van Dijk, it’s just a case of their form falling off a cliff during these past 12 months and whether they can pick themselves up again.
But it seems as though both Spurs and Liverpool are keen on the van de Ven, as Hatchard shares what type of player he is.

“He had a really solid season,” said Hatchard. “He played almost every minute of Wolfsburg’s season, it was right at the end of the season when he missed his first minutes.
“This is a guy that, when he was signed from Volendam by Wolfsburg, was very much wanted by Ajax. He was hot property. Left-footed, an aggressive defender, decent on the ball and I think he has improved defensively working with Niko Kovac.
“I can understand why he is an attractive option. Liverpool have looked at him and I can understand why Spurs are looking at him as well.”

van de Ven is still a work in progress
If the ball-playing centre-back wants to take his game to the next level, then he needs to be playing on a regular basis and he won’t get that at Anfield.
Out of Liverpool, Spurs and Wolfsburg that is the best environment for him because of who he will be surrounded by.
But this is probably a case of staying put in Germany, getting another 12 months under his belt at Wolfsburg and then possibly making a move.
