Liverpool want Gavi and they may be boosted as the Barcelona talent is seemingly unhappy with the club’s pursuit of Manchester City ace Bernardo Silva.

No transfer story this summer has quite attracted as much attention as Barcelona’s spending spree.

Barca are up against it financially, still owe players deferred wages and can’t even register their new signings.

That hasn’t stopped them from securing big-money deals for Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski and Jules Kounde.

Barcelona now have another big-money target in mind as they target a deal for Bernardo Silva – but signing the Manchester City ace may cause some annoyance.

Liverpool want Gavi

Barca seemingly need to sell Frenkie de Jong before they can go for Silva, but he isn’t keen to leave until he is paid his deferred wages – which is more than understandable.

Still, Barcelona are keenly chasing Silva and they may need to be careful about that.

Catalan news outlet Beteve report that Barcelona wonderkid Gavi has told the club that he won’t renew his contract if they sign Silva.

Gavi has allegedly turned down one contract offer already and has made it clear that Silva’s arrival would see him move on.

Gavi has just one year left on his Barcelona contract and seemingly doesn’t want to sign a long-term deal only to end up sitting behind Silva in the pecking order.

The 18-year-old midfielder started 28 games last season and is thought to be the future of the Barcelona midfield alongside Pedri.

Yet if Barcelona want to line up an established star to take his role, Gavi will – to somewhat borrow a phrase from LeBron James – take his talents elsewhere.

Liverpool will seemingly be paying very close attention as Beteve reported in June that Liverpool were interested in signing Gavi and would give him a ‘star salary’ at Anfield.

Staying with Barcelona was seemingly the priority then, but Gavi is now seemingly more open to leaving than ever before.

It would be somewhat ironic if the exit of a Manchester City player pushed a wonderkid closer to Liverpool, given the rivalry between the two clubs in recent years.

This one will likely rumble on for a while yet but Liverpool will be keeping close tabs on Gavi’s situation at the Camp Nou.
