Liverpool may have a number of centre backs at their disposal but could soon go for another in Barcelona talent Ronald Araujo.

The Reds brought in Ibrahima Konate over the summer as he became top competition for places.

Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez are all back from injury, meaning Jurgen Klopp has four outstanding defenders at his disposal.

Liverpool’s depth right now is so good that Gomez can’t get a kick and Nat Phillips is sat in the stands for most games.

Yet with Matip in his 30’s and Gomez unhappy with his playing time, Liverpool may need to keep tabs on other defenders.

ESPN subsequently claim that Liverpool scouts are closely monitoring Ronald Araujo.

The Barcelona star is out of contract in 2023 and cash-strapped Barca could sell in 2022 in order to raise funds.

Liverpool are therefore looking into Araujo ahead of possible move down the line – something that seems to have excited Liverpool fans.

Liverpool fans react to Araujo news

Are Liverpool likely to sign Araujo in January? Probably not, but Reds fans are still loving it.

Some Liverpool fans on Twitter are begging for Araujo to be signed, believing he is ‘very good’.

Others are hoping Liverpool make it happen, believing Araujo to be an upgrade on Gomez.

Ultimately though, fans think that Araujo would only be joining Liverpool if Gomez or Matip leave given the logjam of centre backs at Anfield.
