Liverpool’s reported transfer targets are dropping like flies.
On Wednesday, it was confirmed that Patson Daka joined Leicester City amid earlier speculation that he turned down a move to Anfield.
On Thursday, it was effectively confirmed that Jadon Sancho – linked with a move to Liverpool on a fairly regular basis for about two years - was joining Manchester United.
And then there was a bombshell from Spain in the form of Alexander Isak signing a new contract at Real Sociedad, amid his stellar form for Sweden.
Noticias de Gipuzkoa in Spain reported in June that the Reds viewed big Isak – who stands at 6’4 – as a long-term replacement for Roberto Firmino up front.
But this contract extension makes it unlikely that he’ll be going anywhere for at least another six months.
And here’s how some Liverpool fans reacted to this development:
No great loss?
Well, these Liverpool fans didn’t really give a hoot whether the big man joined or not, but former Reds left-back Jose Enrique certainly did.
The Spaniard said on Instagram this week that he was desperate to see Isak sign for his old side.
As popular as Firmino is among some Liverpool fans, the fella only scored nine goals in all competitions last season which, for a number nine, is a poor return.
Isak, who had a release clause of £60 million, would’ve been an ideal long-term successor.
