Liverpool have shown an interest in former Everton talent Mohamed-Ali Cho – but he is now close to joining Marseille instead.
Cho, 18, joined Everton from Paris Saint-Germain back in 2015 and was attempting to come up through the Toffees ranks.
Yet in 2020, Cho left Everton and headed back to France with Angers.
Angers seemingly offered a better path to first-team football and so it has proved.
Now earning comparisons to Kylian Mbappe, Cho has kicked on and become a real talent since heading back to France.
Cho has bagged three goals in 29 Ligue 1 games this season but his pace has been causing problems for defences – hence that Mbappe comparison.
Cho undoubtedly has a long way to go before he can really hit Mbappe’s level but it’s clear that the teenager has huge potential.
Everton will be gutted enough to see him shining elsewhere, but it could have got even worse with Liverpool keen.
In April, RMC Sport reported that Liverpool were interested in signing Cho as they rivalled some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Imagine how Everton would have felt had Cho returned to Merseyside only to don the red of Liverpool.

Well, everybody at Everton can breathe a sigh of relief as it looks like Cho will be staying in France.
Le10 Sport report that Marseille are ‘very close’ to securing a deal for Cho after holding talks with Angers.
The move is heading in the right direction according to this report, with a fee of around €12million (£10million) being roughly agreed.
Add-ons will come on top of that fee but it looks like Cho will be trading Angers for Marseille this summer.
Liverpool don’t exactly need another attacker right now but don’t be surprised to see the Reds keep tabs on Cho ahead of a potential move in the future.
