Thomas Tuchel was handed the sack by Chelsea this week after the Blues’ shock 1-0 defeat away to Dinamo Zagreb with Graham Potter already in as Todd Boehly’s first managerial appointment as owner of the club.
The German manager leaves the west London giants in something of an identity crisis, with Potter set with the huge task of looking to steer the ship back on course as well as take them back to the top of the Premier League and on the right path in Europe.
Indeed, Chelsea will be an interesting side to watch this season given Potter’s lack of experience in managing a club as big as the Blues, as for Tuchel, the Champions League-winning coach will still be thinking about why he was sacked in the manner that he was, as well as where could he head next.
With Tuchel a manager unlikely to rest easy, here are five clubs who the former PSG boss could manage should the opportunity present itself in the weeks and months to come, with some big teams across Europe already looking for a top coach to take over.
Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund was where the world was introduced to Tuchel, and the Bundesliga giants could soon be a club that are on their knees begging for the German coach to return to the Signal Iduna Park given their odd start to the season under Edin Terzic.
Poor results against Werder Bremen and more recently RB Leipzig has left Dortmund fans already worried about their Bundesliga title aspirations, yet re-appointing Tuchel, arguably the club’s best manager in recent years behind Jurgen Klopp, could give the Black and Yellow that edge to going head-to-head with Bayern Munich for the championship.
Liverpool
Easily the most controversial and out-there option on this list, Liverpool could be a choice for Tuchel if Klopp makes the decision to leave Anfield this season, with the German coach enduring one of his worst spells as manager of the Merseyside giants in his ensure in England.
With Tuchel the man who replaced Klopp at Dortmund, it’s easy to see why the former Chelsea boss could be an option for the Reds if their own German manager was to leave, though a decision to appoint a Premier League rival could backfire big time for the club with supporters.
Juventus

From two massive European clubs somewhat in trouble to one that most certainly is, Juventus seem to have gone two steps back since the return of Massimilano Allegri, and for the Serie A giants, appointing Tuchel could be an outstanding decision from the Italian side.
Tuchel’s brand of football is perfectly suited to Serie A, and with the players currently on hand, the German coach could get the best of the Juventus squad to make them challenge for the Scudetto, something the Bianconeri haven’t won in two seasons, as well as a force again in Europe.
OGC Nice
Tuchel is no stranger to both managing in France and taking on a club that clearly have one huge rival in the division that are bankrolled to heaven and bank, and OGC Nice could be a great left-field suggestion for the German manager based on their awful start to the season.
Currently languashing near the bottom of the Ligue 1 table, Lucien Favre already looks set to leave Nice if results don’t improve, and given how ambitious the French side are, a move for Tuchel feels both a possibility and an exciting prospect for many football fans, with Nice’s squad also quite an impressive mix of youth and experience.
Sevilla

Sevilla were on top of the world last season with Julen Lopetegui at the helm, however, the former Real Madrid manager now looks set to face the sack, and after facing a similar outcome at Chelsea, Tuchel could be an interesting replacement for the La Liga giants.
Whilst the Andalusian side were gutted in the summer and had quite a poor window of recruiting, Tuchel’s coaching capabilities could help spur Sevilla to a strong finish ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup break in November, with January a chance for the German to really impress under sporting director Monchi.
