Bournemouth have been mocked for a long time having signed Dominic Solanke from Liverpool, but the move is now paying dividends.

Solanke, formerly of Chelsea, joined Liverpool in the summer of 2017. The striker managed just one goal in 27 outings for the Reds.

Come January 2019, Liverpool sold Solanke to Bournemouth for around £19million – a fee that seemed enormous based on his Liverpool career.

After just four goals in his first 46 Bournemouth games, Solanke was mocked. Even Liverpool fans couldn’t believe they had landed so much money for Solanke.

Solanke found a bit of form last season with 15 goals last season, but he has been sensational this term.

The 24-year-old already has 11 goals in just 15 games for Bournemouth this season, adding one assist too.

Solanke has found his goalscoring touch at Bournemouth, taking real confidence in the Championship.

If a team now wanted to sign Solanke, the Cherries would surely be in a position to demand even more than the £19million they paid Liverpool.

Dropping down to the Championship to hone his craft may have inadvertently been ideal for Solanke, who now looks more ready for Premier League action.

Nobody is saying that Liverpool were wrong to sell Solanke, but he is currently shining and proving a few Reds fans wrong in the process.
