David Ornstein has said that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool will face “ferocious” competition to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
The Athletic journalist has reported on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel that Liverpool are “definitely” keen on signing Chelsea and England international midfielder Mason Mount.
However, Ornstein has made it clear that the Reds may not find it easy to bring the £85,000-a-week (The Daily Mail) midfielder to Anfield.
Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United all have been linked with the 24-year-old.
Ornstein said: “Mason Mount is a player that Liverpool have definitely made attempts to sign.
“That would be a ferocious contest, not only about whether he might leave, but also whether he could ultimately decide to stay and Chelsea finally come to an agreement with him.”
Could Liverpool sign Mason Mount from Chelsea?
In our view, Liverpool could be able to sign Mason Mount from Premier League rivals Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

Yes, there is intense competition for the England international midfielder, but Liverpool are a big club who will have a big pull even if they do not get to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season.
Now, of course, Chelsea are going to ask for a lot of money for Mount, but the Reds should be able to afford it.
We believe that Mount would be a very good signing for Liverpool and would make the Reds better and stronger in the middle of the park.
Mount is only 24 now, and we believe that the Chelsea midfielder would improve and develop a lot under manager Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.
