Ruben Neves to Liverpool is a new transfer rumour.
Well, it’s a piece of speculation that crops up virtually every summer and has been since about 2018.
But it might just have a little more legs about this time around because, well, Liverpool are in dire need of another midfielder before the transfer window shuts next week.
According to 90 Min, the Wolverhampton Wanderers maestro is back on their radar and with Thiago Alcantara, Curtis Jones, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all sidelined, there’s a sense of genuine realism.
Of course, Wolves would absolutely hate to sell him, but this is exactly the sort of player who Liverpool need.
With Sadio Mane having been sold to Bayern Munich, that’s one less creative spark for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season and it certainly showed during the first three Premier League outings.
However, Neves could fill that void, albeit from a totally different position.
Just ask Stan Collymore.

He told Stadium Astro about the Portugal international three years ago: “One who will be looking is Ruben Neves. Neves is the kind of guy you’d get on the ball in the final third and he has the vision of David Silva.”
That last sentence sums up Neves because whether or not you agree that he has the ‘vision of David Silva’, even the comparison itself indicates that this is a player who can pick a defence-splitting pass from midfield.
And, well, that’s precisely what Liverpool need going forward, you have to admit.
With a valuation of around £80 million earlier in August, Neves would cost Liverpool a bomb, but he’s still only 25 and to get a David Silva 2.0 for the prime years of his career, perhaps it’s one to seriously consider.
