Liverpool are reportedly considering joining the race to sign Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo, who has been heavily linked with Chelsea this summer.

According to TalkSport, Jurgen Klopp’s men would only join the race, however, if Fabinho and Jordan Henderson complete their reported moves to Saudi Arabia.

Fabinho has been linked with a move to Al Ittihad, with it being reported yesterday by The Athletic that the Saudi side were preparing to bid £40 million for the Brazilian midfielder.

Jordan Henderson has also been linked to the Middle East as well, with Al-Ettifaq, now managed by former Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, thought to be offering Henderson £700,000 a week to join the club.

If those two deals were to be completed, then it seems Liverpool would enter the reckoning to sign Caicedo who, according to the same report by TalkSport, is valued by Brighton at £100 million.

Moises Caicedo could transform Liverpool

The Ecuadorian midfielder, who was linked to Arsenal back in January and now Chelsea this summer, would represent a monumental addition to Jurgen Klopp’s midfield.

Having already confirmed the signings of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig, Caicedo would represent the final piece of the midfield rebuild for the Merseyside club and potentially firmly address the midfield issue which has been plaguing the club for a while.

Chelsea will have something to say about Caicedo going to Merseyside, with the two clubs, according to Fabrizio Romano, in conversation over the fee with talks progressing according to the Italian journalist.

The debate will turn to who would he prefer to join, Liverpool can offer European football, albeit in the UEFA Europa League, but Chelsea cannot.

If Liverpool were to lose Fabinho and Henderson then suddenly their need for a midfielder is arguably greater than Chelsea’s, particularly with Naby Keita and James Milner already leaving Merseyside.

It may come down to the midfielder to decide who he feels he can develop more under, Jurgen Klopp or Mauricio Pochettino.
