Liverpool are rethinking their stance on signing Sofyan Amrabat with the Fiorentina midfielder back on the Anfield radar.

Sofyan Amrabat is back under consideration at Liverpool after a move was initially ruled out earlier this summer.

That is according to the Daily Mail, who report that Liverpool are looking into signing Amrabat once again.

It’s stated that Amrabat was actually ruled out as a potential Liverpool signing earlier in the window.

However, Liverpool are considering Amrabat once again as their quest to sign a midfielder goes on and on.

The Reds lost Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to Saudi Arabia and had been hoping to sign Romeo Lavia as their new anchor man.

Liverpool couldn’t agree a price with Southampton though and then turned their attention to Brighton and Hove Albion star Moises Caicedo.

Caicedo decided he would rather join Chelsea, and when Liverpool went back in for Lavia, he also picked a move to Chelsea.

This has been a real mess for Liverpool and their desperation for a new midfielder means Amrabat is suddenly back in the picture.

Liverpool could fight Manchester United for Sofyan Amrabat

It’s unclear just why Liverpool decided not to move for Amrabat earlier this summer but you can see why they may like him.

Amrabat is a combative defensive midfielder who shot to stardom with his incredible displays for Morocco at the World Cup in Qatar.

The Athletic and The Times highlighted in July that Liverpool would consider a move for Amrabat but the rumours then went quiet.

The strongest link for Amrabat has been with Manchester United, Liverpool’s bitter rivals.

United boss Erik ten Hag coached Amrabat at Utrecht between 2014 and 2016 with a reunion now heavily speculated.

SportItalia claimed in late July that Amrabat was just ‘one step away’ from signing for United in a £30million deal.

The deal hasn’t been done yet though and that may just give Liverpool a golden chance to swoop in and land the midfielder.

Described as ‘outstanding’ by former Manchester United star Roy Keane, Amrabat could bring the defensive anchor Liverpool need – if they can convince him to forget about joining up with Ten Hag.
