Liverpool have made enquiries into signing Torino defender Gleison Bremer in recent weeks even if a summer deal is still considered to be unlikely.

That’s according to Goal, with Liverpool correspondent Neil Jones reporting on Liverpool’s interest in Bremer.

It’s stated that Liverpool have been asking about a potential deal for Bremer but are actually behind in the race for him.

Inter Milan are the ‘strong favourites’ right now having held talks over a deal. Juventus are interested in Bremer too.

Torino will seemingly sell up for around £21million and are resigned to losing the Brazilian centre back in the coming months.

A move to Liverpool has been rumoured for some time, but a great source like Jones reporting that enquiries have ben made is the strongest link yet.

It seems clear that Liverpool really are interested in signing Bremer, but a deal is still considered to be unlikely.

Liverpool already have four quality centre backs in Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez.

Add in that Liverpool will also have loanees Ben Davies, Nat Phillips and Sepp van den Berg back this summer, as well as Rhys Williams, and it’s hard to see another centre back arriving.

Who is Liverpool target Bremer?

Bremer, 25, emerged in his native Brazil with Atletico Mineiro before heading to Torino in 2018.

Now a household name in Serie A, Bremer has been a strong goalscoring threat with 13 goals in 105 outings for Torino.

Fabrizio Romano recently praised Bremer for his ‘extraordinary’ performances for Torino this season, even claiming that he destroyed Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic.

It’s therefore no surprise that Bremer is attracting major interest, but it’s currently unlikely that we’ll see him in a Liverpool shirt any time soon.
