Barcelona head coach Xavi wants to sell Ousmane Dembele now amid reported interest from Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, according to AS.
AS have reported that Barcelona head coach Xavi is willing to sell Dembele, linked with a move to Liverpool, in the January transfer window.
The France international forward is out of contract at Barca at the end of the season.
The report in the Spanish publication, as translated by 90min, has claimed that Barcelona could not meet the demands of Dembele during an emergency meeting.
Xavi is reportedly hurt at the situation and is willing to sell Dembele now.
TEAMtalk reported in October that outgoing Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards wants to sign Dembele on a free transfer in the summer of 2022.
Should Liverpool make Ousmane Dembele bid now?
If Barcelona are willing to sell Dembele now and Liverpool were planning to make a move for him in the summer of 2022 anyway, then, in our view, the Premier League club should make a bid for him in the January transfer window.
It is unlikely that Barcelona will ask for a lot in transfer fees.
If Dembele does not hit the ground running at Liverpool, then at least he will have half a season to embed into the team and could be a revelation next season.

Let’s not forget that the former Borussia Dortmund star is only 24 and has his best years ahead of him.
Former Liverpool star Jose Enrique described Dembele as “a world class talent” on Instagram on December 30, 2021 and believes that “he can become amazing” under Klopp.
